Farms and Mountain Land

Throughout both counties you will find some of the prettiest farms anywhere. Some will lend themselves to horses, cattle, goats, sheep or some of the exotic animals such as llamas and emus.
Organic fruits, berries, vegetables, etc. are grown throughout our region and are easily found at local tailgate markets and local health food stores.
Our area is also blessed with pristine mountain land, some of it bordered by national forests and parks. You will find a wide variety of wild game such as turkey, grouse, deer, bear, rabbits, squirrels and a host of song birds. You can expect to find elevations up to 5400'. The higher the elevation the more rugged the topography. Some of the more common trees are poplar, pine, hemlock, oak and hickory. Long range mountain and pastoral views, creeks, streams and springs are also plentiful.

Subdivision Lots

New subdivisions are sprouting up in both counties. The closer to town the subdivision the more likely you are to find public sewer and water as well as natural gas. As you move more into the country well and septic systems are more prevalent. Lot sizes vary from a quarter of an acre or less in town to an acre or more in the country. The prices of lots will vary based on their closeness to town, amenities, and lot size. Whether you are looking for wooded privacy, a pastoral farm like setting , mountain top living or rubbing elbows with your neighbors you're sure to find it in our area.

New Homes

New home construction of single family dwellings is booming in both Madison and Buncombe Counties. For the most part you will find these new homes in restricted subdivisions which vary in home styles, lot sizes, price ranges and settings. You really need to take some time to just drive around and explore the different areas. This will not only educate you on where these different subdivisions are but you'll get to enjoy the beautiful countryside at the same time. Condominiums and townhouses are prevalent throughout Buncombe County but lacking in Madison County at this time.
